The Southern Citizen. "We have received a specimen sheet of this paper, to be issued regularly about the beginning of March, by Benjamin Staim, at the village of New Salem, Mr "Swaim says he means to show fair play to all parties. He says the village of New Salem ia in Randolph county, 10 miles north of the court-house, and 5 from the G utltord line ; contains 100 souls, among whom are three retail stores, a tavern, a religious meeting house, a tanner and harness maker's shop, boot and shoemaker, potter, blacksmith, tailor, tinner, bookbinder, a doctor but no lawyer except himself; and we will add, a Printer as Mr. S. seems to have forgotten to lake himself into his statistical account. The paper at Salem, in this State, printed by Messrs. John C. Blum and Son, heretofore called The Farmer's Reporter, is now, at the commencement of its 5th volume, called The Weekly Chronicle and Farmer's Register. The Messrd. Blum and Son are industrious, worthy citizens, and print a neat little paper which, bating its modern whig propensities, is a useful sheet to the farmers and the great body of the people of the interior.
